Read the Bible for Life:
Your Guide to Understanding & Living God's Word

George Guthrie (Broadman & Holman, 2011)

Blurb Review

Blurb

This book is primarily written to help address the state of massive biblical illiteracy within the Church. Written for laypeople, Read the Bible for Life provides the Church with a helpful guide for better Bible reading and application. The format of this book is particularly interesting in that Guthrie teaches the reader how to interpret and appropriate the contents of Scripture by means of a series of informal interviews with well-known evangelical scholars. Most of the interviews focus on how to understand the different genres of Scripture and prepare laypeople for the various kinds of writings one encounters in Scripture. Though this is not the kind of book typically highlighted on BWM, the author is concerned to help the Church understand the ‘Grand Story' of Scripture and it also it forms part of a larger initiative for bringing the Bible to hold a more significant place in the life of individual believers and the Church (see http://www.bhpublishinggroup.com/readthebible for more information).
